Dynamos Progress Report

The Dynamos has been operational for six months now, and we've been busy. Starting as a networking group focusing on health and fitness goals, we've been enjoying monthly meetings in Sparks Hall at the Center in Granada Hills. Meetings have evolved into a healthy potluck (we all bring something we consider healthy to share), at which we enjoy healthy, fine dining ranging from delicious salads, hummus, lentil loaf, turkey meat loaf, fruits and vegetables galore and other dishes. We share out wins for the month...pounds released, gym trips accomplished, yoga classes, meetups with buddies for walks and gym workouts, and more. Usually we've had 12-15 people join us for the Dynamos' meetings.

We've experienced several marvelous programs, beginning with a DVD documentary about the history of surfing from Malibu to Hawaii and the surfers in their seventies, eighties and nineties who are still going strong. Very inspirational. One of our members, Sue Scheid, introduced us to Donna Eden's energy medicine routines which we can do everyday to get our meridians flowing in the right direction to improve health, stress levels and increase energy. Some of us got together later to practice. Then we enjoyed a speaker from the Be the Change Energy Center, who provided an even more in-depth program on Energy Healing. Agneta Bylund inspired us with tips on healing, nutrition, massage and other techniques that can enrich our lives and our health. Jessica Fish led us in a meditation on Conscious Eating.

So what's coming up? We skipped August as I was out of town for my son's wedding in Seattle. Some of the Dynamos, however, joined the Shutterbugs (which I am also facilitating) for a field trip to the Getty Villa in Malibu. We combined exercise (walking about the villa) to capturing images to share at the next Shutterbugs meeting in September. For our September Dynamos meeting, we have Qi Gong master Ed Sullivan presenting a special program on healing Qi Gong. Please join us...6 p.m. for the healthy potluck in Sparks Hall, followed by a bit of sharing and our presentation by Ed.
